083008 Saturday 11:17 AM Gratitude
Saturday, 30 August 2008
I'm grateful Dad remains alive. This helps nourish my need for interaction with those whom I hold dear.

I'm grateful Dad has transferred to a sub-acute rehabilitation facility. I'm grateful also that I like its look and feel. These factors help nourish my need for contribution to the wellbeing of those whom I hold dear.

I'm grateful for Aliana's eagerness yesterday to visit her grandpa with me. This helped nourish both my needs for quality time with loved ones (such as when she and I walked the grounds of the facility where my dad has relocated, and when we visited Dad) and for the opportunity to enjoy the vital enthusiasm of another (in this case, Aliana).

I'm grateful that I did spinal stretches and head weighting this morning. This helped support my needs for physical flexibility and upright posture. I'm grateful for this moment's sunlight, cool temperature, fresh air and for the ambience and murmur of insects and birds chirping. All this helps me enjoy and experience an invigorating environment.

I'm grateful that I chose to meditate this morning, which helped contribute to my needs for a quiet mind and inner peace.

I'm grateful for the work I completed yesterday on the Fitness Sanctuary. This helped support my need for progress with my fitness in the form of my strategy to reestablish our home gym equipment.

I'm grateful for my recent journaling efforts, which have helped meet my needs for clarity, inner peace and progress. I'm grateful for Cherita's efforts last evening to install the shower curtains, reestablish order in the living room, help Aliana rapidly get clean, and for her work for Axel Designs graphics, printing and web design customers.

It did rain a little today, after all, and the forecast now calls for some thunderstorms!

082808 Thursday 7:52 AM Gratitude
Thursday, 28 August 2008
I'm grateful for eight and a half continuous hours of sleep, which helped meet my reeds for resting, rebooting and recharging.

I'm grateful that I chose to go to bed last night when I felt exhausted. This helped meet my needs to attend to immediate needs and to prepare for embracing the beauty of the next day, which is now beginning.

I'm grateful for the fresh air this morning, which feels "like rain." The air feels wonderful and the possibility of rain appeals to me as I reflect on how it will help the plants grow and as I consider how fresh and alive the air will seem to me after the rain. The fresh air - and how I'm interpreting it -contributes to the fulfillment of needs of mine for respiration and vitality. [Update: after all, there is no rain in the forecast. :-) ]

I'm grateful that my father is alive, conscious and communicative. This helps contribute to my needs for interaction with others whom I love and for their well being.

I'm grateful that I visited my father at the hospital yesterday. This helped contribute to my need for interaction with others whom I love.

I'm grateful for my recent discovery of the Integral approach (as articulated in the one, Ken Wilber book I've so far read, The Integral Vision, and in audio recordings available via subscription on the Integral Naked website). I'm likewise grateful for the Beta launch of the Integral Life website. All these resources have contributed to my needs for spiritual and worldview development.

I'm grateful I fed Zen'r [our cat] this morning. Doing so contributes to the well-being of a pet I love.

I'm grateful for Aliana's well being. Her well being contributes to my well being.

I'm grateful for this moment's relative quiet. This contributes to my need for peace.

I'm grateful for completing my head weighting exercise this morning. This helps me cultivate a strong and healthy posture.

I'm grateful for performing this gratitude expression process. It's helping me to focus on the vitality and wonder of my living needs.

I'm grateful that my heart is beating, that I'm breathing, and that so far as I can tell, I'm poised to boost my health, strength and wellness to new heights. My body's healthy functioning contributes mightily to my well being.

I'm grateful for Cherita's efforts yesterday to help me meet my need for support.

I'm grateful for my plan to set some goals for today. This helps meet my need for order in my life.

I'm grateful to my dad's friend, Mark, for visiting Dad so frequently while Dad experiences his current journey through life.

I'm grateful to myself for completing my body weight exercises yesterday. Completing them helps meet my need for progress in my fitness efforts.

I'm grateful for all the sanding of weight plates I did yesterday. This helped support my needs for progress with my fitness, in this case, with the strategy of restoring our fitness equipment.

I'm grateful to my brother, Mark, for making it a priority to call and talk with Dad on the phone each day.

I'm grateful to myself for having completed and posted Tuesday's and today's gratitude exercises. Completing them has helped me nourish needs for celebration and for focus on what's beautiful in (my) life. Posting them helps nourish needs for self-expression and sharing.

082608 Tuesday Gratitude AM
Tuesday, 26 August 2008

I'm grateful for indoor plumbing, which helps nourish my needs for care of my physical body and for ease.

I'm grateful for getting to bed last night before reaching an hour so late that I would have regretted it this morning. This helped meet my need for sleep.

I'm grateful to myself for engaging in the postural training facilitated by head weighting. This helps nourish my needs for health and wellness.

I'm grateful to myself for doing body weight and walking activity Monday. This helped meet my needs for strength, health and wellness, and for progress toward a fuller, more vibrant fitness strategy.

I'm grateful to myself for walking yesterday, helping nourish my needs for physical activity, respiration of clean air, exploration, reflection and alone time.

I'm grateful to myself for stacking the weight stack plates yesterday after completing the long, complex task over weeks of sanding, cleaning, priming, painting and labeling (by painting) them.

082408 Sunday 1047am Gratitude from my Portable Journal
Sunday, 24 August 2008
When I choose to consider that I'm now feeling into my gratitude and writing about it in this journal, I feel grateful. I love it when I acknowledge, honor and passionately value my need for celebration. Feeling into my gratitude helps me feed this need for celebration. Likewise it helps me feed my needs for empathy and self-value.

When I choose to consider that I'm now breathing, I feel grateful. I feel grateful for my need for respiration and for my feeding of that need.

082408 Sunday Review
Sunday, 24 August 2008

I had a wonderful day today, despite stress, uncertainty and serious, emotional turbulence. I:

  • chatted with Cherita about goals, planning, schedules
  • worked with Aliana on spelling and art
  • made progress restoring our home gym
  • visited my dad at the hospital
  • chatted with Cherita again
  • walked (part of my current fitness program)
  • recorded what I ate (part of my current fitness program)
  • reflected on my dad's - and our - situation
  • recorded my current fitness strategy: walking at least 5000 steps daily; doing three bodyweight exercises Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; making some progress each day restoring our home gym as a Fitness Sanctuary in the garage
